State plans industry-government partnership entity, says CM

The state government will explore setting up an industry-government partnership entity, which can provide and promote a host of services under the Invest Karnataka brand, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday.

He was speaking after inaugurating the FKCCI Centenary Conference ‘Karnataka - A pioneer in Make in India, Startup India and Digital India- Way forward’. He said Karnataka is being put on a high growth trajectory. “Our focus is to ensure economic growth for each and every person in the state. Our goal is to make our state highly prosperous.”

The chief minister said Bengaluru is the only Indian city to be ranked among the 20 best startup eco-systems in the world, as per the Global Startup Ecosystem Ranking Report 2015. Bengaluru is now home to 4,000 active tech startups.

The government has granted Rs 10 crore to FKCCI, for the construction of a centenary auditorium. The auditorium shall be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including meeting rooms, auditorium, translation facilities, cafeteria. The facility shall host national and international events.

R V Deshpande, Minister for Medium and Large Industries, said if the goods and services tax (GST) bill is passed in the ensuing parliament session, it is good for the entire country.
