Student drowns in Surathkal

The deceased has been identified as Sharukh (13), an eighth standard student of Narayana Guru School, Katipalla. His friend Althaf (13) has been seriously injured.

A group of 11 students from Chokkabettu had been to beach. All the eleven had got into the water for swimming. Two students were washed away in the wave. However, locals saved Althaf.

Temple burgled

Some unidentified miscreants gained entry into Sri Ayyappa Swamy Temple at Nagachala Betta in Kumbhasi and decamped with valuables.

The incident came to light when the Temple Manager visited the temple. The miscreants have taken away silver pooja materials worth Rs3 lakh.

Fake currencies found

A case has been registered in Urwa police station based on the complaint by Syndicate Bank Senior Branch Manager K C Prabhu on finding counterfeit currencies. It was said that some unknown customers had come to the Syndicate Bank Bejai Mangalore and deposited cash. On checking, bank officials found 5 fake currencies with the face value of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500.

Cheated

One Suryanarayana Rao has alleged that Arjuna and others have taken a cash of Rs 18,00,000 from him for sanctioning a loan and cheated him by not giving the sanctioned loan amount.
