George gets a taste of common man's woes

Bengaluru Development Minister K J George has directed the BBMP joint commissioner (Mahadevapura zone) to speed up land acquisition for widening the wind tunnel road to ease traffic congestion.

Following complaints about traffic jams on the wind tunnel road in Challaghatta village, George visited the place on Monday and saw for himself the hardship commuters face every day. Local residents urged him to get the road widened.

The minister was angry at the sight of garbage heaps at various places in Jeevan Bima Nagar. He ordered the officials to remove garbage dumped in a stormwater drain.

At Konena Agrahara, George came across construction material dumped on the footpath.
He directed the Mahadevapura zonal officials to check the dumping of debris on the footpath so that pedestrians are not put to hardship.

He also visited Indiranagar and inspected a basketball ground. He directed the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited and the BBMP to explore the possibility of jointly building a state-of-the-art ground.
