Udupi District-in-Charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj instructed the tahsildars to work on war footing basis to ensure that applications received under 94C and 94CC are accepted and processed at the earliest.

People who have constructed houses on government land appeal for de-notice under 94C in rural areas and 94CC in urban areas.

Speaking at the tri-monthly KDP meeting here on Wednesday, the minister said the received applications should not be rejected.

He directed the assistant commissioner to be in charge of the process in providing title deeds. The fees expected by the beneficiaries are also lessened and the beneficiaries’ applications should not be accepted and rejected for the time being, he directed.

The minster said the CRZ Act also states that the traditional fishermen should be permitted to upgrade the already existing houses in CRZ area.

He added he has also recommended the revenue minister to enhance the limit under 9CC to offer 30X40 sqft land site.

The tahsildar said 2,883 applications were accepted under 94C and 2015 under 94CC in Udupi taluk. Title deeds were offered in 282 cases. Karkala tahsildar said 62,020 applications were received and 99 title deeds had already been given. Kundapur tahsildar said that 6,312 applications have been received. Among the, 2,500 are in the stage of inquiry and 78 title deeds are given, he added.

Dengue cases
Elaborating on the increasing dengue cases in the district, DHO Dr Rohini said 299 cases of dengue were reported in the district until June-end. In July, 51 cases were reported. In June, the highest --- 186 dengue cases --- were reported.

Most of the cases are found in Maoist affected areas of Mala, Bajgoli, Edu, Hallihole and Mudur. A proposal estimated to cost Rs 42 lakh has been prepared and sent to the government. The funds would be used to control the outdoor breeding as domestic and peri domestic areas are the core centres of the breeding of mosquitoes, she added.

Ration cards
The minister told the food and civil supplies deputy director to set up the required number of public distribution shops. The PDS outlets should be made available in the areas which have 300 cards. There are 197 PDS outlets and the processing fee is hiked to Rs 90 as  against the earlier Rs 52. He said 23,633 applications have been received for ration cards and among them, 18,221 applications have been processed. Ninety-nine percent Aadhaar card linkage is done, he added.

Drinking water schemes
Elaborating over the progress in the multivillage drinking water schemes in the district, the rural drinking water and sanitation department executive engineer said the schemes in the district is taken up in the proportion 60:40 under the state and centre partnership.
The State government has already released Rs 21.35 crore while the Union government has released Rs 2.54 crore. The first phase work of the vented dam at Nitte is under progress and Rs 166.9 lakh has been realised for the completion, he added.

Waste management
Zilla Panchayat CEO Priyanka Mary Francis said the gram panchayats are not coming forward to offer land to take up scientific solid waste disposal unit. In Kaup, the gram panchayats have said they themselves would initiate measure to dispose of the waste, she added.

The minister also instructed that the houses built to the Koraga families should be of quality. Currently, Rs 2 lakh is released for the construction of houses. An appeal has been made to increase the amount to Rs 3 or 4 lakh, he added.
