Breastfeeding week events from Aug 1

To mark the World Breastfeeding Week that starts from August 1 to 7, an array of awareness campaigns and events are being planned in the city.

The Bengaluru chapter of ‘ Breastfeeding Support For Indian Moms’ (BSIM) will hold an yearly big latch-on event, an international ‘nursing in public’ programme to promote breastfeeding on August 6 at Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Bannerghatta Road.

An awareness walk will be held on August 7 on MG Road where volunteers and members will take part.

The members are also holding an  essay competition for college students wherein the theme is ‘Breastfeeding: A key to sustainable development’. Students of medical, nursing and dental colleges in the city have been invited to take part. 

BSIM, founded in June 2013 by Adhunika Prakash, a certified lactation educator and counsellor, has about 20,000 members across the globe.
