A 30-year-old rowdy sheeter was hacked to death in Thalaghattapura late night on Monday. The victim has been identified Raghu alias Tablet Raghu, a resident of Kumaraswamy Layout.

According to police, the incident occurred when Raghu and his four friends were returning in a car from Mandya after visiting a temple. A gang of five members stopped Raghu’s car near 100 Foot Road in Thalaghattapura and attacked Raghu using lethal weapons. Feeling threatened, his friends abandoned him and fled from the spot. Raghu succumbed to injuries on the spot, the police said.

After the attack, the gang escaped. A few passersby and locals rushed Raghu to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. His body was then shifted to KIMS for postmortem. Later, the body was handed over to his family members.

Raghu had married a year ago. Several cases were rregistered against him which ranged from murder to robbery cases registered in Thalaghattapura, Kumaraswamy Layout and Sathanur (in Kanakapura) police stations. The police also have learnt that Raghu recently had a dispute with another rowdy Vajresh over some money issues.

The police suspect that the men, who hacked Raghu, could be the gang of Vajresh.

Thalaghattapura police have registered a murder case and have formed three special teams to nab the culprits, Sharanappa, DCP South, said.
