Last Updated 01 August 2016, 20:03 IST
JD(S) presdient H D Deve Gowda on Monday said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is grieving his son’s death, should remain brave and courageous.

Citing the example of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, Deve Gowda said that Indira Gandhi, who had lost her son in a plane crash stayed strong, and instilled courage in the people around her.

“Sanjay Gandhi’s remains had to be gathered and brought for the last rites. It was Indira Gandhi who stood strong and instilled courage in people around her during this time.

“She later ruled the country for two more years. I hope that Siddaramaiah too can come out of his pain like this,” he added.

To call Siddu
Owing to his ill health, Deve Gowda could not travel to Mysuru, where Rakesh’s last rites were performed.

“If I was keeping well, then I too would have gone and paid my respects.  “I have sent my condolence letter, and tomorrow I will speak to Siddaramaiah over phone and console him,” he added.
