A confident stride forward

Actor Sriimurali has been taking it really slow but has no regrets about it. The ‘Ugramm’ actor doesn't believe that being in the limelight all the time will make him more popular. The actor has his hands full and is presently working in a project opposite Shivarajkumar. While this is a role that he likes to call ‘different’, he has also made a guest appearance in ‘Raj Vishnu’ which has actors Sharan and Chikkanna in prominent roles. In an interview with Nina C George, he talks about his latest projects.

What’s your role in ‘Raj Vishnu’?

Actors Sharan and Chikkanna play the lead roles and I make a guest appearance. I agreed because the producer happens to be a good friend. I appear only towards the climax and if people think I look good in the film, then I owe it to the stylists.

What made you accept the project with Shivarajkumar?

The project that I am working on at present goes beyond fights scenes, songs and drama. It is a sensibly written script. Scrutinise the title a bit more and it is sure to arouse one’s curiosity.

How is it working with him?

This is my first film with Shivarajkumar and there’s a lot to learn when you are working with an experienced actor like him. I have immense respect and admiration for him and his body of work.

What is the subject about?

The film has action, drama and emotions in the right amount. It captures the many fights and struggles one goes through in life.

How would you describe your journey so far?

I have seen the worst and the best in my career. I have pulled through the most difficult phase because I believed in myself and in my abilities as an actor. And it is this faith that continues to take me from strength to strength. I hate hypocrites and don’t do something just for the heck of it.

Do you think you are going too slow?

I prefer to do meaningful roles that are strong in characterisation. I work on only one project at a time. There are a couple of projects that I have had to let go but I have no regrets about it. There may be a time when I may not have a release at all but I still don’t have any regrets. I have enough work for the next couple of years.
