An uneasy silence prevailed at  “Krishna”, chief minister Siddaramaiah’s home office, before he chaired a series of meetings on Wednesday.

Siddaramaiah was back at work on Wednesday, three days after his elder son Rakesh was laid to rest. According to sources, Siddaramaiah arrived on time at 11 am to chair a meeting with BBMP officials to assess the damage caused by heavy rains in Bengaluru last week.

However, instead of starting the meeting, Siddaramaiah sat in silence for about 10 minutes. Officials and some of Siddaramaiah’s Cabinet colleagues present at the meeting also remained silent. Siddaramaiah was misty eyed. After 10 minutes, he seemed to have gained strength and commenced the meeting, sources added.

He later chaired meetings to discuss the Mahadayi water dispute and reviewed the law and order situation in the state.
