An untiring effort

It is that time of the year again when regular lectures take a backseat and art and culture dominate college campuses. ‘Spectrum’, the annual cultural fest of the Indian Academy Degree Group of Institutions, was held recently.

The fest kicked off invoking the blessings of god followed by various cultural events. The events included dance performances, mime, fashion show and more. What added to the fun was the enthusiastic response of the crowd that cheered, sang, and danced along with the participants.

The fashion show captured the mood of the audience. Models ruled the stage with their elegant poses and vibrant colours. Though the event tuned to be a huge hit among the students, organising it wasn’t a cakewalk.

“Putting things together surely wasn’t an easy task but it feels so good when you work so hard for something and it’s appreciated. Faculty members gave lot of support for this challenging task,” said Lalit Kumar R, president of Indian Academy Degree College.

E Jerome Xavier, principal said, “We expect more students to participate and present their talents in various fields.” He encouraged the students by asking them to showcase their abilities, creativity, and innovate ideas in the competition.’’ Student Welfare Officer Srividhya and Deepa S said, “Auditions were taken twice for onstage events and participation was very good. Judges had a tough time in order to identify the best talent.’’

Organising committee members initially faced some problems due to the unexpected holidays. Multiple meetings were conducted and responsibilities were divided among the student council members who worked really hard to make it a successful event.

“All the events were grand as the students put in a lot of effort. We had a tough time controlling the crowd at the end of the day,” added chairman T Somesekhar. Students also made sure that they had a great time dancing to the numbers belted out by the DJ at the fest.
