A happy end

Abhishek Jawkar’s ‘Missing on a Weekend’ which ran in troubled waters with the CBFC, is finally scheduled to be released on August 26.

The release was delayed following an oral order from the CBFC recommending 50 cuts in the film, in parts, out of fear of portraying Goa in a negative light. The movie features actor Pawan Malhotra as a top CBI cop struggling to solve a murder mystery when a group of friends goes missing among whom one is later found dead while another injured.

The 31-year-old, who is also the producer and scriptwriter of the movie, did not concur and waited for the certificate but he could get it only after sending a legal notice. The certificate still came with a recommendation of seven cuts instead of the original 50. Unwilling to compromise, Abhishek refused to accept the decision and sent the film to the revising committee which dropped all cuts and recommended three mutes of the word ‘Harami’.

The excited Abhishek said, “The fight has been long and it was worth the wait. It’s indeed a eureka moment for us!”. Singer Padmashree Hariharan’s son Karan Hariharan will also be making his B-town debut with the movie.
