The video of a woman brandishing a machete and threatening to kill persons trespassing on her property in Hoodi, has gone viral on the YouTube.

The Mahadevapura police have registered cases against the woman, identified as Archana Gupta, following a complaint by retired ACP Lava Kumar.

According to the police, Archana’s husband Sunil Gupta owns around four acres of land at Hoodi. On August 17, she came to know that some persons were trying to start construction on her land. She rushed to the spot and threatened to kill “trespassers” brandishing a machete.

Reacting to the incident, Sunil Gupta told DH: “ Vasvani Group owns around 4 acres 20 guntas at Hoodi for a project. Lavakumar is the vice-president for the project. We have four acres of land next to Vasvani’s property. The government acquired 20 guntas land in Vasvani’s property for a road widening project some time back,” he said.

Gupta claimed that people from Vasvani Group tried to encroach upon his property. The matter had reached the High Court which directed Gupta to move the lower court for appropriate relief. The lower court directed both the parties not to take up any construction on the land till the settlement of the dispute. “But, the Vasvani Group violated the court order and tried to put up construction on the site,” Gupta claimed.

He alleged he approached the local police about four times to lodge a complaint, but the police did not accept his complaint. Gupta claimed that the Mahadevapura police had registered cases against his wife owing to pressure from  Lavakumar.

The Mahadevapura police said they did not act on Gupta’s complaint as they cannot intervene in sub judice matters.
