A gang of  five unidentified men barged into the flat of a jeweller on Devasandra Main Road near KR Puram on Friday afternoon and made away with 2 kg of jewellery.

The theft took place at the flat of Panda Ram, a jeweller from Rajasthan. Panda Ram stays on the fourth floor of an apartment, along with his wife, Leelabai. Panda Ram owns Pancharatna Jewellers at Ayyappanagar near Devasandra.

The suspects barged into the flat and threatened Leelabai at knifepoint. They collected the jewellery kept in  the almirah and fled the spot. The intruders did not attack Leelabai, said the police.

“The apartment where the theft took place is located in a crowded area. Police suspect the involvement of persons known to Panda Ram. They are verifying the CCTV footage to establish the identity of the suspects,” DCP (East) N Satheesh Kumar said.
