JOIN USA 23-year-old tailor hacked his lover to death before committing suicide at her house in Kuduru in Magadi taluk on Tuesday night.
According to the police, Kumar, a tailor by profession, had an extramarital affair with Hemalatha, 28, who was frequenting his shop. Both were residents of Kuduru. Hemalatha was living with her husband Veerabhadrappa and their two children, aged
14 and 11.
A few months ago, Veerabhadrappa, who learnt about their affair, asked Kumar to stay away from his wife and also warned Hemalatha, the police said.
Kumar used to visit Hemalatha’s house in Veerabhadrappa’s absence. On Tuesday night, Kumar went to Hemalatha’s house and asked her to stay with him. But, she asked Kumar to stop coming to her house. Kumar took her inside the bedroom, locked the door and hacked her to death with a sickle and hanged himself from the ceiling using her saree.
The children, who were in another room, heard their mother scream and informed their father, who was in the neighbouring house, the police added. Veerabhadrappa broke open the door and found Hemalatha lying in a pool of blood and Kumar hanging from the ceiling. He informed the Kuduru police.
The police went to the spot and shifted the bodies for postmortem.
A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Veerabhadrappa.
