The Lokayukta police on Wednesday searched the house of former Director of Prosecution Chandrashekhar Hiremath in connection with irregularities in the appointment of assistant public prosecutors (APP) and assistant government pleaders.

Five empty answer booklets were found at Hiremath’s house during the search, sources said.
The Lokayukta police are probing the case after a private complaint was filed by Ravi, an advocate and an applicant for the post of assistant public prosecutor.

The police searched Hiremath’s house at the National Games Village in Koramangala.

Search at Bangarpet
A police team also searched the Bangarpet house of Narayanaswamy, who is administrative officer, Directorate of Prosecution. However, no incriminating documents were found.
“The office chambers of Narayanaswamy could not be searched since he was on leave.

Hiremath will be served notice to appear before the investigating officer to explain as to why empty answer booklets were at his house,” an official said.

In the complaint, Ravi stated that Hiremath and other officials committed large-scale irregularities during the examination.

Answer scripts were inserted post-valuation after receiving money from aspirants during the selection process, the complaint mentioned.

Hiremath was the Director of Prosecution and Member-Secretary of the selection committee. He retired from service in June 2014, barely a month after the selection process.
