“If the government does not stop releasing of water to Tamil Nadu from Hemavathy reservoir, the JD(S), led by former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, will lay a siege to the dam on September 14,” warned MLA H D Revanna.

Addressing party workers, who have been on an indefinite protest for a week, he claimed that water from KRS dam is not released to Tamil Nadu, but it is the water that is being released from Gorur. So far, 17 tmcft of water has already been released. If this continues, the people of the region will have to face severe drinking water crisis, he said.

“If water is not stopped overnight, more than 10,000 partymen will lay a siege to the dam. We are ready to go to jail, but will not allow water to be released from Hemavathy reservoir,” he said.

“It is a political conspiracy hatched by the Congress government to bring disrepute to Deve Gowda, the MP of the region,” he said.

He alleged that the government is only concentrating on retaining power and not worried about the people. “BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy have extended support to the government on the Cauvery issue, but, the government is preparing to pledge the state,” he said.

He also targeted District in-charge Minister A Manju for not taking any measures in this regard but has been staying in Bengaluru.
