The Purple Turtles on expansion mode

 The Purple Turtles, a brand that has been recognised to bring creativity and style to illumination settings at numerous corporate, retail and hospitality spaces aross India, is now set to expand its retail footprint.

Counting the likes of Google, Facebook, Amazon, Impresario Group, Café Coffee Day and Soch, among its extensive clientele, the company generates up to 50% of its business from projects and the remaining from retail. “We like to call ourselves the last mile of furnishing. While we specialise in lighting, to help our clients complete their interiors, we offer a good mix of furniture and furnishings. Up to 40% of our offerings are in the non-lighting segment,” said The Purple Turtles Founder Raadesh R Shetty said.

The company has its flagship store in Bengaluru, where it plans to set up two more in the coming two months. Further, it has retail presence in Calicut, Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai and Delhi in a shop-in-shop format. “Currently, our focus is the South Indian market. We have a large client base here. We want to further strengthen it by setting up a store each in Chennai and Hyderabad,” he said.

Having raked in Rs 10 crore in FY2015-16, the company is targeting Rs 14 to Rs 15 crore in revenues this financial year. “We are hoping that our retail initiatives will give us the required push. Alongside, our online initiative, which is our own portal, will allow us to reach out to a larger customer base,” he said. 

The commercial website of the company is expected to be up in the next month. “At least in the first six months, our focus will be to get the logistics right as the products could be both fragile and bulky. Eventually, we expect online to serve as growth channel for our retail sales,” he added.

With a strong team production and design team across its two manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru, 80% of its merchandise is produced in-house. The company is soon to begin operations at its third manufacturing facility in Bengaluru.
