Gokarna: MP flays govt move

MP Anant Kumar Hegde on Thursday said the government should not try to take the Gokarna Mahabaleshwar temple under its control from Ramachandrapura Mutt.

At a press meet, he said the government has issued a notice to the mutt in this regard. It should not take a hasty decision in the matter. He said the move has been opposed by the public. Muslim kings and the British have ruled this country. But they did not interfere in matters of religious institutions and the government should follow their example, he said.
