<p>The golden howdah, the main attraction of the Mysuru Dasara, was slightly damaged while it was being shifted to the strong room of the Mysuru Palace, after the successful completion of the Jamboo Savari on Tuesday night.<br /><br /></p>.<p>According to sources, the wheel of the trolley used for transporting the 750-kg howdah tilted, resulting in the chipping of the gold plating on one of the legs of the howdah, while it was being unloaded from a lorry at the entrance of the palace.<br /><br />“The palace security personnel, supported by policemen, were shifting the howdah, which arrived at the palace around 8 pm after the return journey on the back of the caparisoned elephant Arjuna. However, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, the head of the erstwhile royal family, summoned experts and got it fixed,” said sources.<br /><br />The howdah, which has around 150 kg of gold-plating, had been insured from October 10 to 16 by United India Insurance for Rs 27 crore, for which Wadiyar had paid an undisclosed premium.</p>
