Snooker: National 6-Red snooker: Bangalore lad eases past Sharma; sets up round-32 clash with Savur

With much of the crowd surrounding his table, PSPB’s reigning National snooker and billiards champion took a little while to settle down and once gained rhythm he didn’t disappoint the viewers blazing  past Sharma 4-1 (19-41, 80-0, 51-16, 51-13, 55-1) to top Group ‘A’ at the KSBA Hall.

Even minor errors could be easily punished in the 6-red format and Advani paid for them dearly in the opening frame. However, Advani found his magical touch in the second frame firing the maximum 75-point break, the second time in the tournament, and from that point the Bangalorean did not look back, setting up a round of 32 clash with his mentor Arvind Savur on Saturday.

West Bengal’s Brijesh Damani, one the talented cuesits in the country, oozed class in his 4-2 (6-33, 64-1, 40-0, 11-35, 44-32, 69-0) win over Shivam Arora while Railways’ R Girish scored a scratchy 4-1 (25-31, 38-27, 44-2, 54-23, 27-26) victory over Shashank Gupta to top their respective groups.
