<p>District BJP vice president C H Lokesh on Saturday condemned the decision of the state government to go ahead with Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebration on November 10.<br /><br /></p>.<p>He told reporters that the chief minister is adamant to observe Tipu Jayanti just to safeguard the vote bank and also nurture his political ambitions. <br /><br />He expressed fear of the state government falling on its own in the coming days and is focused on wooing a particular community. By observing Tipu Jayanti, the chief minister will also be hurting the conscience of Kannadigas as Tipu Sultan is considered anti-Hindu, he claimed. <br /><br />‘Ulterior motive’<br />Tipu was communal and always harboured ulterior motives. Yet, the government is going ahead with its plans. Although aware of the historical evidences with regard to Tipu’s tyrannical rule, Health and Family Welfare Minister K R Ramesh Kumar is silent on the issue and is trying to save his chair, Lokesh criticised. <br /><br />Reminding that the maiden Tipu Jayanti programme last year had cost the life of VHP functionary Kuttappa in Madikeri, Lokesh said, “There are clues that the workers of Popular Front of India (PFI) having links with terrorist organisations, behind similar incidents. The police investigation has already proven the role of PFI in the recent murder of RSS worker Rudresh in Bengaluru. The arrest of PFI Bengaluru unit president Asmin Sharief corroborates the fact, he claimed.<br /><br />Lokesh demanded the government and the district administration to take suitable measures to prevent untoward incidents if any, during the proposed Dattamala procession in the district. <br /><br />The state is reeling under worst-ever drought and the government has no development works to its credit that can be called as best. The honest police officers and also farmers are ending their lives, he criticised.<br /><br /></p>
