<p>UCWeb, an Alibaba Mobile Business Group company, has said that its flagship product UC Browser has crossed 100 million monthly active users (MAU) in India, and the company now plans to get into more regional languages. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Interacting with DH, as part of the Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) in Bengaluru, Alibaba Mobile Business Group GM of Overseas Business Kenny Ye said that the company is expecting a spike in the user base with the rapid growth of mobile Internet.<br /><br />“UC Browser is the largest mobile browser in India and we have 57% market share in the country. We have registered a 25% increase in MAUs this year, and going forward, we expect to keep the same growth rate,” he said. The firm started its operation in India six years ago. “Since we have crossed 100 million users, we have become as powerful as Google and Facebook. Even though increasing user base will be a priority, we are also focusing on providing users quality content,” he said. <br /><br />Ye said that the company is transforming itself as a platform for accessing different contents in a personalised way. “The tie-up between UC Browser and UC News has helped us become a content distribution platform rather being a mere browsing tool. We are now aggregating entertainment-based content on our platforms,” he said. <br /><br />Besides the tie-up with Colors TV and Fox Star Studios’ Ae Dil Hai Mushkil movie, the next level of UCWeb growth will be fuelled by the Alibaba Digital Media and Entertainment Group by partnering with more entertainment content providers and entertainment companies. Ye pointed out that the company is looking at the language diversity of the country. “We started our service in English, Tamil and Hindi, and half a dozen more Indian languages will be added soon,” he said. <br /><br />As per Internet and Mobile Association (IAMA) statistics, India has 462 million Internet users and 371 million mobile Internet users. The additional investment on infrastructure development like massive fibrisation game plan, 4G and 5G roll out and availability of more spectrum, will increase the number of internet users.</p>
