Rollback SDMS resolution: Sisodia

Last Updated 08 December 2016, 09:48 IST

Slamming the BJP-run municipal corporations, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday demanded the immediate rollback of a resolution passed by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation which directs its officials to dismantle the facilities set up by the MLAs using their MLALAD funds.

Sisodia directed the Directorate of Local Bodies that such resolutions should not be implemented.

He accused that councillors of both BJP and Congress are not working and when the MLAs of a particular area try to help the people using their Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development Scheme (MLALAD) funds, then they are stopped from doing so.

“There are sanitation issues in the city. The roads and drains are broken and damaged. Parks do not have benches. There are no playing equipment for the children. Most of the parks are in dilapidated condition,” he said.

“When they are not being to do the repair works, people come to the MLAs. The MLAs are using their funds, but MCD is passing resolutions to stop them.”

Sisodia accused the municipal corporations of Delhi of purposely delaying the development works by making a delay in giving the estimate of many projects.

“The South Delhi Municipal passed two resolutions. The first one was passed by the Standing Committee which says that no children play equipment will be installed in parks under the jurisdiction of SDMC using MLA fund - if any MLA fund is sanctioned then the same should be returned immediately,” Sisodia said.

“The second resolution says that no LED light should be installed/replaced under the jurisdiction of SDMC by utilizing MLA fund. No ‘No Objection Certificate’ should be issued for the replacement of street lights on roads under the jurisdiction of SDMC,” he added.

He alleged that the councillors of both BJP and Congress are indulging in corruption and brokerage of some real estate.

“In Jangpura, benches have been installed in the parks using the MLA funds, but the MCD removed those. Resolutions have also been passed by the MCD to stop the MLAs from going on rounds in their constituency,” he alleged.
