Google on Wednesday released the top trending stories in 2016, which include the most important events, user interests, trends and developments in the country.<br /><br />Other search trends include how to add a beneficiary in SBI, how to deposit money in ATM, how to withdraw cash from banks and how to check CIBIL score free. While Rio Olympics 2016 emerged as the top search term, followed by the presidential election in the USA and Brexit. Others in the list include Demonetisation, 7th Pay Commission, Oscars and Surgical Strike. <br /><br />Aadhaar emerged as the top trending social scheme. According to a Google official, the trending queries are the searches that had the highest spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2016 compared with 2015.<br /><br />“Year in Search is meant to reflect ‘the spirit of the times’, and we strive to capture this spirit through exploring the year’s new and exciting search terms. The trending terms generally better identify what people were curious about in 2016 relative to 2015.”<br /><br />According to the official, the “Most Searched” terms which consistently feature website names and common terms like “weather”, are not a good indication of recent search trends for many categories.</p>
