It was a lack of options for pure vegetarian food that prompted five friends to set up ‘Beyond Elements’ — a restaurant dedicated to those with a preference for greens and grains.

“We realised that vegetarians have to compromise a lot when it comes to dining out,” says Tralukya, MD and partner. “They will usually have to go to a place which serves non-veg food also or which allows smoking. We are not saying that it is good or bad; just that some people may not want it. Which is when we came up with the idea of  having a restaurant which will serve pure vegetarian food and generally put the spotlight on healthy eating.” Asked to elaborate, Tralukya says, “We are consciously staying away from maida, ajinomoto and other such harmful ingredients.

The emphasis is on fresh quality food.”
The place serves North Indian, Continental and Italian cuisine. Though the menu is not a very extensive one, there is a lot of variety within the items offered. For starters, you can try a range of options like Paneer paprika, Paneer tandoori and Bharwan mushroom. A must try is the ‘twin punch’, which is a twist on stuffed mushrooms. The salads, like Macaroni pasta salad, Hawaiian salad and the Masala papad, can leave you wanting for more.

The main course is a feast for the eyes as well as the tummy with a plethora of choices like Dal makhani, Paneer tikka masala, Veg jalfrezi which are accompanied by authentic biryanis and whole wheat ‘rotis’ or ‘naans’. The food is light and leaves you feeling satisfied but not overly full.

On the Italian end, the ‘wood fired pizzas’ are the clear winners when it comes to popular vote. The crisp taste of the thin, whole wheat crust is a delight and a far cry from the usual ones you get at other places. There are just four varieties of pastas but the white sauce varieties in this, like the ‘Pasta alla alfredo’ and the ‘Pesto pasta’, are must haves.  Coming to desserts, choose between ‘Moong dal ka halwa’, ‘Angoori jamun with rabdi’ or ‘Gajar ka halwa’. They are just right in terms of sweetness.

In the beverages section, you can choose between fresh lemon mint, butter milk, green tea or black tea. The management is certainly serious about their ‘healthy eating’ tag. With very reasonable pricing and a great outdoor ambience, the restaurant is a preferred place for all kinds of people, ranging from bachelors to professionals and families.

“The outdoor seating is something that attracts people a lot. The rooftop galleria is filled with an element of space where you lose track of time. People looking for a quiet dinner with their family or a romantic night out with their partner visit this place very often. But we are still working on a few elements when it comes to construction,” says Tralukya. They are also planning to set up a new bakery soon.

‘Beyond Elements’ is located on Plot No 7, 4th Floor, Prashanth Layout, Trijal Commerspace, ITPL Main Road, Hope Farm Circle, Whitefield.
