The computers, printers and furniture of the office of the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) at Metagalli in the city were seized by the judiciary department personnel, on Friday, for failing to abide by the court order.

The Second Additional Civil Court had directed KIADB to pay an additional compensation of Rs 37.30 crore to a person whose 15 acres and 33 guntas of land was acquired for the proposed expansion of the Mysuru Airport in 2007.

The materials from the KIADB office were transported to the District Court complex premises. The lands in Survey numbers 111, 112 and 113 of Marase village had been acquired as per the gazette notification of 2000 for the airport located at Mandakalli. There were houses, a resort and other buildings on the said land and the KIADB had provided a compensation of Rs 4 crore.

K Ramaswamy, the land owner, had appealed to the court, seeking additional compensation and the city civil court had directed the KIADB to pay an additional Rs 32.13 crore in an order on November 11, 2015, fixing a deadline of one month, failing which, the industrial board had to pay a fine of 15% interest per day (Rs 1.32 lakh). Now, the total amount has increased to Rs 37.30 crore, including the interest.

Meanwhile, the KIADB had appealed against the court order before the High Court of Karnataka. However, the high court upheld the lower court’s order.

As the KIADB failed to abide by the high court order, Ramaswamy had moved the court, which passed an order on January 7 to seize the KIADB property, said Ramaswamy’s advocate Gerald Castalino.
