Belfrics, a Malaysia-based blockchain technology firm, launched its Indian bitcoin exchange operations on Monday.

The company, with its operations in multiple countries, is planning to provide liquid marketplace for buying and selling of bitcoins in Indian National Rupees. With the demonetisation event, the interest towards the digital currency has increased multi-folds in India, the company said. Belfrics is set to tap the largely unbanked Indian population by providing a superior, yet simple digital currency trading platform through desktop and mobile devices, it added.

The company will also be introducing Point of Sale (POS) and bitcoin payment gateway for online and retail merchants. The bitcoin operations were launched by the CEO of the company, Praveen Kumar, and Shanthinagar  MLA N A Harris.
