Twist in kidnap case: wife accused of affair

 A 26-year-old woman, who had complained that a civil contractor had kidnapped her husband, is now being accused by the husband of having an illicit affair with the contractor

The woman had complained to the Banaswadi police that her husband Raju Mazumdar had been kidnapped by their civil contractor as she opposed his sexual advances. Both Mala and Raju are residents of Babusapalya and natives of Kolkata, the police said.

The police, upon investigating the case, discovered that the wife had an illicit affair with the contractor which the husband found out later. A depressed Raju then left for Kolkata without informing his wife, the police said. Using this as an opportunity, Mala confronted the contractor and asked him to either marry her or settle the issue with money. The contractor brushed aside her threats.

Mala then lodged a complaint against the contractor, cooking up the kidnap story, the police said.
