Bengaluru Development Minister K J George on Tuesday said he is confident that the Karnataka High Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT) will give a favourable judgement on the steel bridge project, “as it is being taken up in public interest”.

Speaking after the inauguration of a skywalk at Nagawara junction, George said work on the project will commence soon after the court gives a green signal. The Minister said: “People who are opposing it do not understand the problems faced by the people of Hebbal, Nagawara, Race Course Road and surrounding areas.”

Without taking the name of Rajya Sabha member Rajeev Chandrashekhar he said: “The MP is the vice chairman of  Kerala NDA led by the BJP. The earlier government could not execute the project though it proposed it. Now, because we are doing it, protests are being held. We are fighting the case in court and are cooperating by handing over all the required documents pertaining to the proposed project.”
