<p>Representatives of pre-school associations in the city met BBMP Mayor G Padmavathi to discuss their concerns over pre-schools operating in residential areas receiving notices to close. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Last week, several pre-schools received notices as part of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s city-wide drive against commercial establishments operating in residential areas in violation of zoning regulations. Parents and school-owners opposed the move saying that the environment in commercial areas is not suitable for pre-schools. <br /><br />On Tuesday, Karnataka Council of Pre-Schools and other associations approached the mayor with a petition against the move, signed by members and parents. <br /><br />“The mayor has assured us that she has asked the commissioner to stop issuing such notices for now. They will form a committee to decide what kind of establishments should receive the notice. Our concerns will be considered,” said Pruthvi Banwasi, secretary of the council. <br /><br />The associations will also approach the principal secretary for primary and secondary education, BBMP commissioner and additional chief secretary, Urban Development Department among others.</p>
