PTS Diagnostics to streamline India biz; will expand team and outreach

Last Updated 03 February 2017, 17:50 IST

Having established its first international subsidiary in India in July last year, US-headquartered PTS Diagnostics is set to streamline its business here as it expands its team.

The team, which currently constitutes five members, is set to expand six-fold by the end of this year.

In an interaction with DH, PTS Diagnostics India Non-Executive Chairman Dr John Hurrell said, “Right now, we are in the market research phase in India. We are trying to ascertain how our products can be positioned in the market as the clientele ranges from physicians, phamaceutical companies and pharmacies, to even the end consumer, who is the patient.”

The company has a distribution network across 136 countries, with products focussed on cardiac and diabetes care. “We already have a distribution network of six pharmaceutical companies and about 10 to 15 hospitals here. Going forward, our target customer-base will be independent and hospital-based physicians,” he said.

PTS Diagnostics has started selling its products over-the-counter across Walmart and other such outlets in the US, and is set to launch the model in the UK as well. However, in India, it is currently focussed on physicians, who can perform the check-up and offer immediate follow-up treatments.

The company is slated to launch its products across South India by March. “Even before we entered India through our subsidiary, we had marked our presence in Chennai and some surrounding cities through our dealer. Taking it from there, we will launch our products across South India by March,” he said.

The company remains optimistic about its prospects in the country with a targeted double-digit growth rate in the next four to five years.

“We are very optimistic about the Indian market. It is the reason that we have set up our first international subsidiary here. We are confident of adding value to the healthcare ecosystem here,” he said.
