The officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested a man after he was found with bundles of foreign currency concealed in tea and confectionery packets at Mangaluru International Airport on Thursday night.

A press release said foreign currency, comprising US Dollars, Saudi Riyals, UAE Dirham and Australian Dollars, all adding up to Rs 35,02,900 in terms of their value in Indian currency, were seized from Abdur Rub.

Rub is a native of Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada and he was proceeding towards immigration counter after check-in formalities to board Jet Airways flight to Dubai.

The DRI officials had seized foreign currency, amounting to Rs 25 lakh, from Mohammed Farooque Armar on January 5.
