As many as three city schools have been issued notice for not giving consent to the Health and Family Welfare department to carry out Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination drive.

One school in Koramangala and two in KG Halli were given the notice for failing to organise awareness activities and allowing officials, who had approached the management, to sensitise students and parents on the issue. The schools cited lack of space for their move.

A source said, the schools failed to submit the list of students, who were eligible for the vaccine, but had given a date for them later.

The drive, which targets 1.65 crore children between the age group of nine months and 15 years, will begin across the state from Tuesday.

In a joint meeting early last month, Health and Family Welfare minister K R Ramesh Kumar and Primary Education minister Tanveer Sait said that the vaccination would not be mandatory. However, 17 schools have been listed for not co-operating with the department in the drive.

A few school managements said parents had not given the consent.
