Zilla Panchayat president J Premakumari, in the KDP meeting held here on Monday, slammed the officials concerned for failing to take necessary measures to ensure adequate drinking water supply in rural areas.

The ZP president took the officials to task for not doing enough to address drinking water woes in the district. She said that the officials were directed in the previous meeting to provide drinking water in the affected areas.

“The people’s representatives are facing the wrath of the public. How will you manage the show during the summer” she questioned.

Chief Executive Officer B Sharat said, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had suggested measures to tackle the drinking water crisis through a video conference on January 30 and 31. He assured the meeting of taking necessary steps to addressing the drinking water woes.

Engineer Ramakrishna informed that water is being supplied to villages through tankers as a temporary measure. He suggested that arrangements should be made to supply water from nearby borewells.

Doctors’ negligence flayed
Standing Committee president Yogesh flayed the negligence of doctors and staff towards the patients at the District Hospital. He alleged that the staff here administer the injections, from the syringes filled with medicine well in advance, if questioned about it, they would give the patients rude answers. District Health Officer Dr Mohan should take necessary measures to set this right, he sought.

On the construction of additional hospitals in the district, DHO said that the authorities have denied lands for the construction of hospitals at Chikkamulagodu and Guthalu. He appealed to the authorities to make alternative arrangements.
