The family of Soujanya Gowda, who was found dead in Ujire on October 9, 2012, under strange circumstances, has welcomed the observation of the CBI special court that the investigation of the case had not been conducted properly.

Addressing mediapersons on Tuesday, Soujanya’s mother Kusumavati said the court’s observation had created hope among the family members about getting justice. Investigation should be conducted regarding the role of the three suspects named by the family.

Social activist Vishnumurthy Bhat said police had misled the investigation, succumbing to pressure from the suspects, who are influential. The evidence, including the post-mortem report, has been tampered with. The then Superintendent of Police Abhishek Goel and sub-inspector Yogesh are involved in misleading the probe, he said. Bhat has demanded that a narco-analysis of the suspects be conducted.
