The city police have obtained a body warrant from the court to detain suspect Madhukar Reddy to interrogate him for attacking Corporation Bank manager Jyothi Uday inside an ATM kiosk in the city on November 19, 2013.

The Andhra Pradesh police had recently arrested Reddy at Madanapalle in Chittoor district.

“Reddy is in the custody of Andhra Pradesh police. We are in touch with the local police there. After Reddy’s custody with Andhra police expires, our team will go there for his detention,” a senior officer with the CCB said. “A team has already visited Madanapalle once for the identification purpose a day after his arrest. The team established Reddy’s identity and asked the purpose of attacking Jyothi. He said that he had attacked Jyothi as he had no money even to buy food. He planned to wait inside the ATM to attack whoever came to withdraw money,’’ the officer said.

The officer, quoting Reddy, said that he followed her to the ATM and demanded money. When she resisted, Reddy snatched her ATM card and asked her to provide the PIN number. As she refused to give the number and attempted to push him, he attacked her, the officer said. Reddy, a native of Nimmanapalli, was arrested on February 4. During interrogation by the local police there, he revealed attacking a woman inside an ATM in Bengaluru.
