Filmmaker Sumana Kittur’s sister has submitted a petition to city police commissioner Praveen Sood, seeking registration of a criminal case against and immediate arrest of journalist Ganesh Kasargod for making lewd remarks against Sumana in a Facebook post.

“He has asked how many fathers does my sister have. He has also used vulgar language and made lewd remarks. His comments have hurt the sentiments of our family. Hence, a criminal case should be registered and he should be arrested immediately,” Maithri, Sumana’s sister, stated in the petition.

She told reporters that Sumana had won accolades due to her achievements. Her films had been screened at national and international film festivals and had been appreciated.

“He should have common sense in using the language. He should be decent, civilised and dignified in using the language. The commissioner has promised to look into the matter on Monday. I will also lodge a separate complaint with the women’s commission,” Maithri said.
