Plantation workers' stir is illegal

According to a press release from, Karnataka Forest Development Corporation Ltd Executive Director T V Mohandas the wage settlement dated April 3, 2007 signed between Karnataka Forest Development Corporation Limited and Unions had expired on July 31, 2009. Hence a committee constituted for the purpose of negotiating with the unions on charters of demands had met on January 19, 2010 and on March 15 at Regional office in Bangalore.

Though all the unions including Karnataka Plantation and Industrain Workers Trade Union, Sullia were invited.

The Trade Union of Sullia did not attend the meeting and resorted to strike from March 15. An amicable consensus was arrived between all the trade unions except of that of Sullia on the revision of wages and other benefits, the release added.
