JOIN USIn a case of road rage, a police constable was assaulted by motorists in Banaswadi on Sunday.
The constable, identified as Basavaraju Ipparagi, a driver of a Hoysala patrol vehicle attached to Pulakeshinagar police station, has lodged a complaint with Banaswadi police.
The incident took place around 4.30 pm on Tank Bund Road in Lingarajapuram, when he was returning home in plain clothes, on his motorcycle.
An argument ensued between Ipparagi and three motorcyclists from the same area when the former was not given ‘enough space' to pass through. In the melee the three assaulted Basavaraju. He has also complained that his mobile phone and a gold chain went missing during the incident, police said.
Police sources also claimed that Basavaraju knew those who assaulted him. Banaswadi police have registered a case.
