Last Updated 21 February 2017, 20:10 IST
The operations of app-based taxis, aggregated by Ola and Uber, are likely to be hit from Wednesday onwards as drivers have decided to go on an indefinite strike till their demands are met.

Ola, TaxiForSure, Uber Drivers and Owners’ Association president Tanvir Pasha said the cab aggregators have failed to address the demands of the drivers and it has left them with no other option but to go on a strike. “All these days they employed various tactics to maintain status quo.
It won’t continue from Wednesday,” he said.

Leaders of various unions of drivers attached to Ola and Uber are sending audio and text messages on WhatsApp groups appealing to all the drivers not to work from Wednesday. In one such audio message, Pasha appealed to the drivers not to resort to violence.

“Please do not attack anyone who wants to work. Request him to drop his customer and then join. Don’t force anyone,” the message said. The cab drivers are protesting against the “cuts in their incentives” and seeking an end to Rs 500 fine slapped for cancelled rides.
