Jayaprakash Hegde may join BJP on March 8

Former MP and Congress leader K Jayaprakash Hegde is likely to join BJP on March 8. Hegde, who represented the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency, said he has received a letter from the state BJP to join the party on March 8. “I am consulting my supporters and will make an official announcement in a few days,” he said.

BJP sources said the party is planning to capitalise on Hegde’s ‘sway’ over voters from Bunts community in coastal districts during the Assembly polls next year.
