Woman falls from second floor, dies

A 40-year-old wife of an Income Tax (IT) officer died after accidentally falling from the second floor of her house in Vyalikaval on Tuesday.

The deceased is Hema Malini who was residing on the ground floor of her house with her husband. Around 9 am, she was plucking flowers on the second floor, when she lost balance and accidentally fell, said the police.

Passersby and neighbours who heard a sound found Malini lying in a pool of blood. She was shifted to a nearby private hospital. Malini, who failed to respond to treatment, succumbed to severe head injuries, said the police.

It was a daily routine for Malini to pluck flowers for puja. There is a Sampige (Champa) flower tree growing in front of her house. She would go to the second floor to pluck flowers.

Malini would use a stick to pull the branches closer and pluck flowers. On Tuesday too, she used the stick and pulled a branch towards her. As she was trying to reach out to the branch, she slipped and fell down, said the police. A case has been registered in Vyalikaval police station.
