A group of miscreants went berserk and assaulted people in Subramanyanagar and Rajajinagar on Thursday afternoon.

The police said the injured are Sarvesh, Kumar Swamy, Mrutyunjaya, Arvind, Amith and Praveen Kumar. On Thursday, around 2 pm, three persons were travelling in an autorickshaw. When they reached Udaya Park near Subramanyanagar, they assaulted Swamy with a machete and fled the spot.

They went ahead near Gayathri Park and attacked the others who were walking on the road, said the police. “The police, who were informed, visited the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby private hospital. The doctors declared that they were out of danger.

“The victims told the police that three to four persons came in an autorickshaw and attacked them. They were trying to attack people randomly for no reason,” said a senior police officer.

“The registration number of the vehicle is being verified and the CCTV footage is being gathered to identify the miscreants. The injured persons were walking on the pavement and did not know each other. It is suspected that the miscreants were under the influence of alcohol,” added the officer. Cases have been registered in Subramanyanagar and Rajajinagar police stations.
