CFI condemns attacks on students, teachers of DU

The activists of Campus Front of India (CFI) staged a protest near Ambedkar statue here on Friday, condemning the recent attack on students and teaching faculty of Delhi University.

The agitating CFI members raised slogans against the activists of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Sangh Parivar. They said, ABVP activists assaulted the students during a protest called by ABVP to oppose Jawarhalal University students coming to Delhi University.

The agitators shouted slogans against MP Prathap Simha for his tweet on Gurmehar Kaur, daughter of a martyr, who had posted on social media “I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of the ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgain ABVP.” CFI leaders M F Fayaz, Abu Tahir and Mahammad Hakim led the protest.

SC ruling on quota flayed

The members of Karnataka State Nayaka Hitarakshana Vedike staged a protest in front of Gandhi’s bust, near the District Court Complex, opposing the Supreme Court’s order to ban reservation on promotion.

The agitators said, the Indian Constitution offers reservation for the betterment and development of backward classes. The order demotivates Dalit community people. The government should resolve the issue, they demanded.

Vedike president Dyavappa Nayak, district unit president Sridhar Chamundibetta and general secretary Prabhakar Hunsur among others were present.
