In what was a one-sided game of many chances, Bengaluru FC’s reserve side beat the Departmen of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) by a solitary goal scored through a penalty in the BDFA Super Division Football League, at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Monday.

A sixth minute spot-kick was slotted home by Ajay Chettri after Leon Augustine was brought down in the box.

The Bengaluru side that mainly saw members of the U-16 and U-18 side also fielded three members of the senior team in Malsawmzuala, Gursimrat Singh and Beikhokhei Beingaichho.

Augustine and Arun Suresh made themselves a constant threat down the flanks, while Sourav TP and Beikhokhei troubled the DYES defenders constantly. However, their efforts were just shy off the mark as the opponent’s keeper managed to hold his own.

A sixth minute run by Augustine into the box saw him brought down by a defender and earn his side a penalty. Chettri stepped up and made no mistake as the DYES shot-stopper could only palm the strong shot into his own net.

Meanwhile in the ‘A’ Division, Amal Deepak Pai (18th minute) and Shiva (40+2) struck a goal each as Income Tax registered a 2-0 win over Sports Authority of India.
