Police need to develop interaction with public: SP

Speaking after giving away the certificates of the Civilian Rifle Training Course to the students of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, here on Thursday, he stressed on the need to develop a healthy interaction with the public.

The Civilian Rifle Training Course has helped to develop some goodwill among the public about the police. Otherwise, it is at the police that all fingers are pointed at in the case of any problem, the SP said and appreciated the effort by the School of Social Work of honouring policemen.

Principal of School of Social Work Dr Jacinta D’Souza, in her presidential address, said that the course has paved way to cultivate a better relationship with the police.

Earlier, Retired Armor of District Armed Reserve Police Devappa Nayaka was felicitated by the SP for his service. He had trained 27 batches of students from the School of Social Work with rifles.

Registrar of the School Dr Laxminarayan Bhat, HoD of Criminology Dr B Ashoka, Inspector from District Armed Reserve Police Guruprasad, RSI Gururaj, Armors Mugera and Chandu were present on the occasion.

As many as 29 students received certificates.
