With some Congress leaders, including sitting MLAs, showing inclination to join the BJP in Karnataka, the saffron party’s state leaders on Monday discussed the pros and cons of admitting them at a meeting here on Tuesday.

Upbeat over the BJP’s thumping victory in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the core committee meeting discussed whether to admit them as some of them have imposed a condition that they should be given party tickets in the Assembly polls.

The meeting decided to seek the view of the national leaders on this issue, a senior leader told DH.

The meeting was attended by state incharge of the party Muralidhar Rao, Union ministers Ananth Kumar, D V Sadananda Gowda, state unit president B S Yeddyurappa, former president Pralhad Joshi, former chief minister Jagadish Shettar and others.

Former chief minister S M Krishna is officially joining the BJP on Wednesday.
