The eighth annual convocation of the batch of 2015 was held at Jyoti Nivas College Autonomous auditorium recently. The event began with a procession led by Prof Latha, Controller of Examinations holding the ceremonial mace followed by the head of departments, deputy deans, chief coordinators, PG coordinator and the principal.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp by Sr Elizabeth, M S Shankar Reddy, K C Ramamurthy accompanied by Sr Lalitha, PG director and Sr Josephine Hoover.
The welcome address was given by the principal. She presented a report of the eight years of autonomy and the 50 years of growth of the college.
The guest of honour Prof M S Shankar Reddy , registrar evaluation, Bangalore University declared the convocation open which was followed by the presentation of the graduates by the deans of all three streams of the undergraduate courses and the post-graduate students.
The rank holders were then felicitated. This was followed by the distribution of the degree certificates. M S Reddy congratulated the teachers for creating an innovation spirit in the students and urged the students to carry forth the flag of Jyoti Nivas. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr Ella Sen, IQAC coordinator.
A few of the attendees shared their joy of coming back to college to attend the ceremony. Meghana Vasudevan said, “This entire experience is overwhelming and just walking down the isle of this auditorium brings back many memories.”
Elizabeth Rhea Roy also voiced her joy of being part of the event. “It is very memorable to come back to the college and be amongst familiar faces like teachers and students; what I’m taking back is more memories,” she said.
