A senior police officer said, “Five more persons have been detained but their role in the murder is yet to be ascertained. Prime suspect Manjunath and another Giri, who stabbed Vasu on his chest, are yet to be arrested. The whereabouts of the others are known and will be arrested at the earliest.”

There are vital clues available which have been obtained and this is helping us get closer to solving the case,” added the officer.

Another senior police officer said the gang had tried to kill Vasu twice on March 13. The first attempt was in the afternoon near Chandapura but they could not execute the attack as Vasu was with his friends and associates. The second attempt was around 9 pm near a hotel near Hebbagodi police station but again the gang failed, as the police were patrolling the streets. On the same night, Manjunath grew furious over the failed attempts and invited the gang to his friend’s house in Jayanagar. They partied and Manjunath warned his associates that at Vasu should be eliminated on Tuesday at any cost.

“Based on the clues, Sarojamma, who was hiding in her relative’s house, was picked and when questioned, she confessed to the killing and revealed the details of the murder. Her call record details revealed more information,” said the officer. Sarojamma, TMC president, Madhu (23) alias Spike, Narayanaswamy (35), Murali (20) alias Appu and C Manjunath (29) alias Karpuru Manjunath, all friends of Manjunath, the prime suspect, were arrested on Wednesday.
