Designs to impress

The Army Institute of Fashion & Design’s (AIFD) fashion show  – ‘Design Dapple’,  which showcases their creative work, was held at Chowdiah Memorial Hall recently.
 
    At the show, they presented their final year collection of garments ranging from high fashion couture using diverse fabrics to practical everyday corporate and casual wear.

Some students were also awarded for their excellent academic performance during the event.

The ninth batch of BSc (Fashion and Apparel Design) students bagged five ranks out of 10, at the 2016 examinations held by Bangalore University.

Varnika Verma, who stood first in the University exams, won a silver trophy, gold medal, certificate and cash award.

Rohit Rajput, who stood fifth, was also conferred with the ‘Chief of Army Staff (COAS) All Round Best Student Rolling Trophy’. The ‘Best Student Innovative Designer’ was won by Kumari Swati for her exquisite designs using new-age knits for couture wear.

The ethereal black and white creations showcased during the fashion show were lit with the glow of radium colours, making them stand out in the dark. ‘The Best Student Creative’ was won by Milind Maurya for his collection in red inspired by rose petals.

 The ‘Best Student Designer’ was won by Shahbaz Ahmad for his denim
collection for the conservative minority community.Among the other collections that rocked the ramp were Apoorva Sharma’s impressively styled ‘Camouflare’, which was a play on the camouflage fabric styled for the red carpet and Dhanalakshmi’s ode to the French Revolution, ‘Rocaille’.  Vivek Venugopal, who recently represented the country at the ‘Euroskills Competition’  in Gottemburg, Sweden designed an innovative set of garments for the young mother, which can be worn both during and after pregnancy.
